SPEECH TEXT - MOTIVATION AS A BASIS FOR EXCELLENCE

Good morning everyone! I appreciate the opportunity to be with you today. In this occasion, I will speak about Motivation as a Basis for Excellence. But before I start my speech, let me ask you a question. By a show of hands, how many of you who want to be a successful person?

All my beloved friends

When we hear about ‘success’ what we think is always being a big person. It mostly like everyone knows us, get paid tens of millions each month, working at foreign companies and other life condition with luxury things. I don’t say that is not success, I just wanna say that success is not always being like that. We don’t have to be a doctor, minister, businessman, and architect for being a successful person. If it was your dream, keep moving forward! But if it was not, don’t worry because everyone has his own success way. The point of being success is when we have become a better person and useful for others.

I guess that most of you thought that being successful person is very difficult. Yes it is. Success is not an easy thing to get. But remember, God said that:

“So verily, with the hardship, there is relief. Verily, with the hardship, there is relief”. No matter how difficult it was, it will always followed by easiness. Then how we get the easiness? Does everyone will always get the easiness? I don’t think so. I believe that everyone has a motivation when he is trying to get something, and Allah will just give the easiness for those who have right motivation, such as do everything only for getting His pleasure. We study only for getting His pleasure, and strive for success only for getting His pleasure. So, if we sincere in seeking God’s pleasure we must be serious in studying and striving for success.

Having right motivation is really important for our life. As we know, live only once. So mean it. Our life will be nothing without any purpose right? Our prophet Muhammad SAW said about this on the first hadith in Arbain hadith. “Actions are (judged) by motives (niyyah), so each man will have what he intended. Thus, he whose migration (hijrah) was to Allah and His Messenger, his migration is to Allah and His Messenger; but he whose migration was for some worldly thing he might gain, or for a wife he might marry, his migration is to that for which he migrated”. From that hadith, we may know that having study only for getting His pleasure as a motivation is really important because it will help us then, that is get the easiness from Allah and make our life meaningful.

So, the first thing we have to do for being a successful person is having a right motivation that is do everything only for getting His pleasure. Then, let’s make our own success way!
